The studio has emphasized its desire to create a realistic environment where large wrecks at plate tracks don't automatically turn you into enemies of every other driver involved.

Rivalries and friendships between drivers are naturally formed based on how you treat them on the track, with tempers boiling over if you consistently rub opponents the wrong way. However, these feelings will cool off somewhat between seasons, ensuring that rivalries aren't permanent and can be rebuilt over time.

The game's career mode now includes two racing series – The Xfinity and Camping World Truck series – in addition to local, offline splitscreen multiplayer. The new racing series has a significant impact on the game's story mode, introducing new challenges and opportunities for players to progress their careers.

In NASCAR Heat 2, you can choose to stay in the same series or race in multiple series simultaneously, even participating in multi-series race weekends if the schedule aligns. When accepting a contract with a team, you'll take over one of their cars and replace that driver, with no driver retirements and other drivers remaining in their respective series.

Meet certain criteria throughout your initial season, and you may receive an offer to jump up to the Xfinity series at the end of the year. The game's career mode starts in the truck series, providing a natural progression path for players to follow.
